10:55 Remembrance Service Begins
A service of remembrance will be held by the War Memorials in the Reading Room commencing just before 11:00 on Tuesday 11th November.
Tea, coffee, and freshly baked scones will be available for purchase in the Members’ Bar from 09:30
Medals may be worn
Following the Remembrance Service there will be a luncheon and talk in the Old Billiard Room.
This year’s speaker will be Tim Robinson Msc(Eng) DIC DipTP MRTPI (Rtd).
Tim was educated at Lurgan College and Imperial College London and is a retired transportation consultant who worked on the planning of numerous transport infrastructure projects in Africa, the Middle East, Asia and the UK.
Tim will share his personal story about his grandfather, Johnston (Jack) Robinson DCM, who joined 9th Battalion Royal Irish Fusiliers in September 1914, and served in France from October 1915 until February 1919. His grandfather was awarded the 36th (Ulster) Division Certificate for Gallantry for his actions at Hamel on 1st July 1916 and the Distinguished Conduct Medal for leading an attack on Moeuvres village on 23rd November 1917, during the Battle of Cambrai.
