Our next Arts Society meeting will have a message that art should be fun. Children love art – but there comes a point when it becomes a school subject and for many that is when it becomes too serious. Our speaker this time is someone who believes there is no reason to lose that sense of fun, even if like her you go on to take a degree in fine art.
Susan McKeever's style goes back to the pleasures of tearing up glossy magazines or anything that can be recycled. Then, armed with a pritt stick, scissors, paint and brushes she turns that into art. Come along and rediscover that sense of fun. Even bring a magazine or two to have a go. Susan will show how her approach to art can be rewarding, producing collage pieces that are not only original, but commercially successful. She has been exhibited widely including at the Royal Ulster Academy annual exhibition. She will tell us about her journey into art and show some of her unique work.
