BATTLEFIELD STUDY,SIEGE OF DERRY TOUR

Derry trip

An outstanding day out was had by all attendees on Saturday 15th April!

Everything was organised with military precision down to drinks on the homeward journey served on a silver salver by Major Shields!

Col Bigger was was an excellent guide, a great communicator and a lovely lunch was organised for everyone in Foyle College. There was even an unplanned organ recital from Dr Joe McKee OBE when visiting St Columbus Cathedral which is within the city walls. In the afternoon the group moved on to Culmore Point to view the fort.

Everyone came away with much more understanding of the history of the era of the siege and the importance the city played in the Second World War.

The proposed future visit to the Boyne will be a very popular trip as the success of Saturday filters through to the membership.
