In Honor of the launch of the Eamon Phoenix Foundation you are cordially invited by our fellow members Dr. Francis Costello and Past President Michael Copeland to a special lecture by The Right Hon. Lord Paul Bew at the Ulster Reform Club on September 16th at 11: 00 AM followed by lunch at 12.30 PM in the Old Billiard’s Room.
Fellow Historian Lord Bew will speak about British policy in Ireland from Prime Ministers Gladstone to Blair.
Eamon Phoenix was a public historian and esteemed Member of the Club. The Eamon Phoenix Foundation is dedicated to carrying on his work in promoting mutual understanding and reconciliation through the study of History.
In Dr Phoenix’s Memory, The Eamon Phoenix Foundation strives to make a factual accounting of our shared history available to all. Part of the foundation’s mission will involve bursary support for students at secondary level across our communities to encourage them to write publishable essays about their families and/or local histories.
The lunch tariff for members and guests is £37 for three courses and tea or coffee. Provision for donations in support of the Eamon Phoenix Foundation will also be available on the day. Please invite your friends.
